The Association for Optimization, Risk and Business Intelligence in Transformation (ORBIT) is a non-profit, professional, and research-oriented organization dedicated to advancing evidence-based decision-making through the development and application of optimization methods, risk assessment frameworks, and business intelligence technologies. ORBIT operates at the intersection of academia, industry, and public institutions, fostering cross-sectoral collaboration to address complex economic, organizational, and societal challenges.

ORBIT’s overarching objective is to strengthen analytical and decision-support capacities among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers by promoting high-quality research, methodological innovation, and effective knowledge transfer. The Association supports the design and implementation of advanced models and tools that enhance efficiency, resilience, and the management of uncertainty, while supporting sustainable and responsible growth.

Data Analytics and Big Data: The increasing availability of large datasets has led to a growing intersection between operational research and data analytics, supporting data-driven decision-making and advanced business intelligence solutions.

Data Envelopment Analysis: Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a non-parametric method used to assess the relative efficiency of decision-making units in the presence of multiple inputs and outputs, with applications in benchmarking and performance evaluation.

Decision Analysis: Decision analysis is a systematic, quantitative approach to evaluating decision alternatives under uncertainty, supporting rational and transparent decision-making processes.

Forecasting: Forecasting methods are used to predict future events or trends based on historical data and relevant information, supporting planning, risk mitigation, and strategic decisions.

Multicriteria Analysis: Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) addresses problems involving multiple conflicting objectives or criteria, enabling structured evaluation and prioritization of alternatives.

Optimisation: Optimisation focuses on identifying the most effective or efficient solution within a defined set of constraints, with applications across economics, engineering, and management sciences.

Risk Management: This course introduces practical frameworks, tools, and strategies for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks in business and operational processes to support resilient and informed decision-making.
